Gary Weinstein is growing a moustache for 4 fantastic cancer charities this Movember

The 31st of October 2014 marked the 1st anniversary of my wife, Melanie, surgery to remove cancer.  During the past year she has undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments to ensure that the cancer never returns!

As of 31st December 2014 over £2600 had been raised for important cancer charities, so a big THANK YOU to all of you that contributed and made a difference.

Making Graduates More Employable

More than half (52%) of graduate employers feel that “none” or “few” of their new graduate recruits are “work ready” upon leaving university according to the YouGov survey conducted at the of the last academic year in August 2013 of senior UK managers and published in conjunction with the Good University Guide[1].

A positive outlook on the British weather: Stop feeling under a cloud and brighten up your day!

Last week I was asked to help an Italian student studying English in London to research English sayings referencing the weather.  Here are some examples:-

Go down a storm

Silly season

Brighten up the day

Head is in the clouds

Steal someone's thunder

Leadership – is it a tactical blunder to be popular?

Disclosure: I am neither a Spurs nor West Brom supporter.

Today the Football Association (FA) announced that it is about to start talks with Roy Hodgson – the manager of West Bromwich Albion – to become the next England manager.  This flies in the face of the Peoples’ popular choice of Harry Rednapp – the manager of Tottenham Hotspurs.  It had been assumed that Harry was a ‘shoo-in’.

Transformational Training Strategy for your Partner Network

Recently a group member within my LinkedIn network posed a question about developing a training strategy for up-skilling the knowledge and skills of his company’s Partner Network.  In particular what are the best ways to engage Partners in learning (when e-Learning is not an option) to develop their selling skills, product knowledge and objection handling capability?

To write or not write a Business Plan? Now that is a Question!

I have been active in the UK business start-up scene for some years having composed 3 business plans for start-ups seeking £100-£250k in funding.  Two were for training businesses and one was for a location-based smartphone application.

Corporate Vision. Mission and Business Goals – Why you need to understand them

How often have you got into your car to embark upon a journey without knowing where your destination is? Probably not very often, if ever.

How often have you set off on your journey without having looked at a road map or planned the route? My guess is more often than you care to admit.  The problem is that as you near the destination you become confused and uncertain about exactly how to get there, or where exactly are you now in relation to where you want to be.

It reminds of a cartoon (below) I saw some years ago.

Creating a Highly Effective Learning Organisation - Which Way Up?

We are all familiar with the expression “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” which is typically applied to a situation where deciding what to put first is not always straightforward. Thus the situation arose for me when deciding the order of the 9 steps to becoming a Highly Effective Learning Organisation (HELO).

The order that I present is:-

Relentlessly…
